Big Bike Ride
For
7 consecutive years SmartMove participated in the Heart and Stroke Foundations
Big Bike Ride. Our team gathered pledges and enthusiastically ride the 30 person
bike around downtown Victoria to help boost awareness.
Mustard Seed Food Bank
Since
1995 SmartMove employees have volunteered to serve the Mustard Seed's
Christmas Dinner. This annual event is held at the beginning of December at
the Bay Street Armories. The dinner ensures that they less fortunate receive
a hot turkey dinner and a sense of the holiday spirit. This December will be
our 12th consecutive year. We always look forward to this event.
Queen Alexandra Hospital for Children
Since
its inception in 2001 SmartMove has participated in the Queen Alexandra Foundations
"Bear Wear". Approximately 50 bears parade their inventive costumes
and incentives.. The event showcases Teddy Bears that have been dressed up by
various Businesses and are auctioned off to raise funds for the foundation.
Members of the public visit the Hotel Grand pacific where the event is hosted and place bids on their favorite bears through a silent auction.
A Teddy Bears Picnic is also held where the participating children decorate their own gingerbread bears, play in a bouncy castle, experience face painting and balloon animals, entertainment and a special visit from Santa at the end of the event all in the Hotel Grand Pacific's Ballroom.
Cheryl Brown sits on the Fundraising/Special Events Committee for Foundation and enjoys participating in the fundraising activities.
This year Gary Brown- owner of SmartMove celebrated his 40th birthday and instead
of accepting gifts he accepted donations on behalf of the foundation and raised
$1100.
University of Victoria Athletics Department
SmartMove
is a very enthusiastic sponsor of the University of Victoria Athletics Department.
We participate every year in the UVic Golf Classic which raises funds for awards
for student athletes.
Not only does SmartMove participate in this event but Cheryl Brown sits on the Golf Classic Committee.
SmartMove contributes to both women's and men's soccer and basketball teams and are regular contributors to the Guy Vetrie Memorial Fund.
Rebels Football
Gary
Brown owner of SmartMove Realty is an avid football fan and alumni of the Victoria
Payless Football club now known as the Victoria Rebels. It is very important
to Gary and SmartMove to give back to those who have contributed to our staff
and realtors lives. For this reason SmartMove is a very enthusiastic supporter
